Dissections of Plant Specimens

I had a lot of fun with this assignment! My favorite plant to dissect was the the sweet pea – I didn’t even notice at first what it was. I once I did the dissection was so much fun.

    Nice job Peri,
    these are nice examples from your garden. All nicely described using botanical terminology. I am always interested in sections through the ovary to show placentation or carpel/ locule number. Since you were using some cultivated plants that were rather showy, this would have been some nice additions. I have never dissected honeysuckle but twinflower is in the same family (Caprifoliaceae) and the structures are similar (see below for the diagram).
