All plants were pressed for about 4 days.
Some cones on the alder specimen were not yet completely flattened, so I wonder if it should ideally be pressed longer than four days. I would have done so, but due to an upcoming trip, that’s the longest I could press it for.
Not to worry about the alder catkins (that’s one of the informal names for a Betulaceae inflorescence; the other is an ament). They don’t “press” without a good deal of “pursuasion”, and maybe an encyclopedia or two. 😉
On your Chamerion angustifoliom (the fireweed), by chance were there any flower buds? If so, make sure they are presented on your sheets and are pictured in your photographs. Flowers are typically the most diagnostic feature of an angiosperm. Really young plants may not have set buds yet, which is fine – it reflects when you took your sample.
