I’m wondering how long these were pressed for? Looks like they could have stood a couple more days (which would have meant collecting them a couple days sooner). They’re easier to pose when they’ve been pressed.
On scientific naming: the convention is to capitalize the first letter of the Genus (e.g., Gallium) but not the species (boreale). It’s not necessary to type the whole name of the author; there are well known authors whose names are abbreviated. Linnaeas, for instance, is a capital L followed by a period (e.g., L. – in this context, everybody knows who you mean). So the scientific name is Gallium boreale L. If WordPress let me, you’d also see that the Genus and species are italicized. When handwritten, they’re often underlined instead.
I didn’t realize we had Medicago falcata in Fairbanks. Nice find! And you have a really nice specimen of Vicia – tendrils and all!
