I have family from all over, but mainly Ireland, Alaska, and some of the \u201cLower 48.\u201d From my paternal side, I\u2019m Upper Tanana Athabascan, from the village of Healy Lake. I\u2019m very proud of my Den\u00e9 heritage and this is my second year serving on our Council. <br>I\u2019m a very ambitious person, so much of my time is spent teaching elementary-aged students, hiking\/exploring the great outdoors with my boyfriend and two dogs, reading a good book with my two cats, creating visual arts, writing, or learning more about plants. I\u2019ve come to have a deep appreciation of local plants, so I\u2019m taking this course for the fun of it and to fulfill an Ethnobotany program requirement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/introtoflora.community.uaf.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/766\/2025\/06\/IMG_2615-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7727\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My current favorite plant is Calypso bulbosa!
