Floodplain thickets<\/strong> occur along the floodplains of rivers throughout Alaska, but the species composition differs along the rivers of the southern coastal areas to the broad, braided rivers north of the Brooks Range. \u00a0 Floodplain thickets form on newly exposed alluvial deposits that are periodically flooded, and develop quickly.
